Las Palmas is the Canary islands so from what I can establish, all of the islands form part of Las Palmas (Canary islands) province. What makes it confusing is that there is for example a La Palma in Las Palmas and a Grand Canaries in the Canary islands.
Wonderful art all along the promenade but not much ro see in the city.again a very volcanic city that is perched on the top of a hill.

Seated among the pigeons in the square where he so often brought his paintings, this sculpture pays tribute to the popular painter who repeatedly depicted Puerto de Cabras in the 1930s, and to the compulsive writer who recorded experiences and memories of that time. His silent companions are the 1824 church, the Cabildo, the State Office (Dirección Insular del Estado), and the old Hotel Fuerteventura - the residence of Unamuno during his exile on the island in 1924.
A griffin, currently reading a book where they fight dragons. Both mystical creatures weirdly represented on this island.
The Lime Kilns are present across the waterfront. Used in the 1950s to produce lime that was user in all sorts of industries.
We found playa blanca or white beach to go for a swim and then headed back to the ship for 13:00 only to be told that due to weather we are not going to Morocco so are missing the ports of Casablanca and Tangier due to weather 9m waves and rain.
