Cape Town for Amy's Baby Shower - 21 January 2024

Amy's Baby Shower at Suikerbossie

Bev, Amy, Carolyn, Dominique and all of the lovely ladies who created an awesome occasion for Amy's baby shower, thank you from all of us attendees.

We had a ball, and we started with a questionnaire on Amy and Andrew's thoughts on various topics, one that stood out was "Who's talent will Holly inherit" -  Hands down, everyone said Amy. "Who will give Holly her first drink" On this one Andrew got every vote.

With Alex having baked the most gorgeous cupcakes and Suikerbossie catering, everyone ate and drank their fill.

No one was allowed to mention the word baby in the peg game as they would lose their clothes peg with the person with the most pegs winning.

The fun continued with the three-stage race, each table put forward a team of two people, the husband, clueless and blindfolded and the wife with a basketball strapped to their tummy. The first stage was where the blindfolded dad had to put on a nappy. The second stage was to eat the Nutella out of a nappy. the lucky parent had Nutella with marshmallows and the unlucky found pickles in the Nutella and had to stomach the concoction to proceed to the final step - singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star with a mouth full of large marshmallows.

The final game was bingo where different baby requirements replaced the numbers. As Amy opened presents, the bingo blocks were ticked off.

What an awesome occasion.

Learning to fly a drone at AutonoSky, Cape Town 15th - 19th January 2024

Learning to fly a drone properly has been on my radar for a while. I have had the Bolt which I could only fly indoors (it is too light to fly in any breeze) and had great fun flying in the lounge, then Darren brought home the DJI Mavic Pro and the idea of taking pictures and videos from the sky became a reality. Being bad at 'just doing it' which Darren highly recommends, taking advantage of the trip to Cape Town for Amy's baby shower, I decided to learn how to fly it properly.

I love photographs and I love St Francis Bay Scenery, having taken aerial pictures of St Francis from the Baron 58 and the Twin Comanche, the idea of doing so again has become a reality. This time using the DJI Mavic Pro.

Kindly AutonoSky and Daniel in particular assisted in sending the theory requirements beforehand and I was able to do the required subjects and some flight training in a week. I have not yet finished the practical skills, but hope to come back to Cape Town on the 8th of February for Terrance's birthday and spend some time completing the required training and skills test.
