The bunkers are everywhere, put there by a leader that believed everyone wanted to attack the country.
The bunkers in Albania were built during the rule of dictator Enver Hoxha from the 1960s to the 1980s as a massive fortification project to protect against a potential invasion, driven by his paranoia that various powers, including the Soviet Union and NATO, would attack. The construction was ordered by Hoxha, and over 750,000 were built across the country. Scary as it has left Albanians with little space for farming.
The one we visited is a museum to communism. What not to forget so we do not repeat the past.
