Albania, Vlore for Apolonia 22nd October 2025

In my opinion, Apolonia is a baby Athens with an Amphitheatre, massive fortification wall and Orthodox Church. Artefacts found in the escavations date back to prehistoric time.
Apollonia was an ancient Greek city in Illyria, now a significant archaeological park near Fier, Albania, famous for its well-preserved ruins that highlight its history as a prosperous trade hub between the Greek and Illyrian worlds. Founded in the 6th century BCE, the city flourished under Roman rule and is notable for its large population in antiquity and a renowned school of philosophy. Key attractions at the archaeological site include the Odeon, Roman Villa with mosaics, the Library, and the 12th-century Church of Saint Mary within the monastery.
