We docked at 7 this morning, by 6 Michael has already gone to gym while I chose to sleep. Very happy I did. Having chosen to go to Kagoshima Castle, we set off for a 8.4 km walk, not too bad, Google maps kept us on track mostly and we got to the castle wall where we saw this beautiful flower.
Monument to the retainers that does building a wall to hold back 3 rivers so that Kagoshima can now exist.
After some delicious frappes we headed downtown to find an anime shop to get Darren his Monkey D Luffy's hat and some Tshirts. Not easy, we walked around to where some young girls at Starbucks had told us to go, only to find only books and what Michael seems to think are iron on Tshirt stickers, why else can we not find any animé style merchandise in Japan?
Despondent we start walking back to the ship, now we are out of our Google map download so I resign as navigator and Michael takes over. We have to be back on board at 15:30, it's now 12:00. Michael heads off in a direction and I dutifully follow, 13:00 comes along and nothing is looking familiar and we have walked 15kms. So I stop at the a 7/11 and Google translator asks the lady behind the counter directions to the cruise terminal. Looking very shocked she shows me a very long map and points me down the road that will get to the river and if we follow the river to the sea where we can then look for the boat.
We do exactly that and we find the boat, it looks quite close. We finally got onboard 25. 77 Kms later at 15:00. Very tired and very hot, it's 32 degrees in Japan.
Iced tea and lemonade later we felt human again.
